My third year Visual Communication module entailed developing my identity as a designer and conducting a design project of my choosing. I opted to develop my flat art style by producing five theatre artwork posters for ‘Frozen’, ‘Hairspray’, ‘Hamilton’, ‘Kinky Boots’ and ‘The Addams Family’ utilising Adobe Illustrator - in particular, the pen tool.

 

Hence the flat art style, the posters comprised of elements that were minimalistic, featured minimum effects and were easily recognisable. For each design, I re-created the central characters and either depicted a key scene or location from the production also. Moreover, in this project I took the opportunity to experiment with typography by creating five font faces that were appropriate for each design which I then utilised to add a key lyric or several lyrics that completed the creations.
